Description of key information

Bioaccumulation: low potential to bioaccumulate based on calculated BCF of 86 l/kg-wwt

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
86 L/kg ww

Additional information

A reasonable estimate of bioconcentration factor (BCF) can be obtained by estimation from log Kow using the method in the Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment (EC 2003, Part III. Chapter 4, Section 4.5.2.1, Page 31 - 33) using the equation log BCF = 0.85log Kow - 0.7. The estimated value is BCF = 86 l/kg-wwt (log BCF = 1.94 l/kg-wwt) for the registered substance.

Triethoxy(3-thiocyanatopropyl)silane hydrolyses moderately (half-life of 23 hours at 25°C and pH 7) to substances which have low log Kow values (<3) and thus have low potential for bioaccumulation.
