Description of key information

The flash point is 29 - 70°C (CONCAWE 2010a)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flash point of 29 -70 deg C for kerosine was obtained from Compilation of Selected Physico-Chemical Properties of Petroleum Substances (CONCAWE, 2010). The flash point was determined for various kerosine substances according to the EN ISO 2719, 13736, and ASTM D 93-02a methods.

An additional flash point range of 21 to 62°C for kerosines were obtained from the CONCAWE 1994 product dossier. Wide-cut jet fuels have a flash point of <21°C, Jet Fuels A, A-1 and JP-8 are at 38°C, hydrodesulfurised kerosine and JP-5 are at 60°C, and straight-run kerosine is at 62°C.The flash points were measured by the closed cup method.
