Description of key information

Half-life far exceeds 30d at pH 5, 7 and 9.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

To determine hydrolysis rate constants and half-lives for 1,2,4-H-Triazole in aqueous buffered solutions of pH 5, 7, and 9 at 25 ± 1°C, the test chemical in deionized water was added to buffer solutions at 10 ppm (Spare, 1983). The test solutions were equilibrated in closed bottles and the hydrolysis solutions were periodically sampled and assayed by thin layer chromatography and autoradiography. The molecule was not observed to hydrolyze at pH 5, 7 or 9 for periods up to 30 days. Therefore, the half-life was in excess of 30 days.
