Description of key information

The acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was tested in Daphnia magna in a 48-hour immobilisation test in accordance to EU-method C.2 and OECD guideline 202. The test under semi-static conditions revealed a 48 h EC50 value of 3.05 mg/L, and a 48 h NOEC of 1.28 mg/L. The results are based on the measured geometric mean concentrations.

Additional information

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the test item PSOA (Peroxy sulfonated oleic acids) on the mobility respectively survival of Daphnia magna. Young Daphnia were exposed in an immobilisation test to aqueous test media containing the test item for 48 hours at a range of concentration under semi-static conditions. Test concentrations were prepared by appropriate diluting of a stock solution. The following nominal concentrations were used in the main study: 2.5; 5.0; 10.0; 20.0 and 40.0 % v/v stock solution. The corresponding calculated test item concentrations (based on the analytical measurements) were: 1.28; 2.69; 6.89; 15.61 and 32.91 mg/L. The 48 h EC50 value was determined as 3.05 mg/L, and the 48 h NOEC was determined as 1.28 mg/L. The results are based on the measured geometric mean concentrations.
