Additional information

After exposure to dimethylammonium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate acute effects could be observed on fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae, with EC50/LC50 values < 200 mg a.i./L. Chronic effects of this substance to aquatic invertebrates were reported as well, in a study resulting in a NOEC of 46.2 mg a.i./L. In addition, aquatic macrophytes were tested with the substance, showing the highest acute and chronic sensitivity to with an EC50 of 0.58 mg/L (0.38 mg a.i./L) and a NOEC of 0.27 mg/L (0.18 mg a.i./L) reported for Lemna gibba after 14 days of exposure.

As no further chronic data for the test substance are available, read-across is performed from an analogue substance, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. Related to the acid, chronic effects on fish (growth), invertebrates (reproduction) and algae (growth) are reported. No adverse effects on aquatic microorganisms could be observed after exposure to 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid.
