Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

A study by Sharp (1978) in the guinea pig reports 1-dodecanol to be at most mildly sensitising and is used as weight of evidence to support the key finding.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
The key study (Eurofins 2008; rel 1) is read across from 1-decanol and finds the test material not sensitizing to the skin of guinea pig.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In determining the sensitising potential of decanol branched and linear, weight of evidence is considered accross category in addition to the key study which is read across from 1 -decanol. Based on the available information, decanol, branched and linear is found to be not sensitising in accordance with CLP (EC regulation 1272/2008).
