Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

ELR50 values (14 d, range) = 0.23 (Bellis perennis) to > 1.5 L test substance/ha (Avena fatua) (0.18 mg a.i./kg dw soil to > 1.24 mg a.i./kg dw soil)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data investigating the toxicity of sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2702-72-9) to terrestrial plants were available. Therefore, a conclusion on this endpoint was drawn based on the toxicity data of an analogue substance. Dimethylammonium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2008-39-1) was tested in a study by Kaczynska (2006). This test was conducted according to OECD Guideline No. 208, Terrestrial Plant Test: Seedling Emergence and Seedling Growth (2006) under GLP conditions. Six plant species were exposed for 14 days to the test substance and effects on seedling growth and other parameters were reported. The resulting ELR50s ranged from 0.23 L test substance/ha (0.18 mg a.i./kg dw soil) for Bellis perennis to > 1.5 L test substance/ha (1.24 mg a.i./kg dw soil) forAvena fatua.
