Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The lethal concentration (LC50) value of sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate in aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna) in a 48 hr study on the basis of mortality effect was estimated to be 86.09 mg/L. But the BCF value of sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate reported was not >= 2000 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable. Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance, it is concluded that sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate does not exhibit short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna).

Additional information

Based on the various studies available with Klimish rating 2 for target chemical CAS NO 3088-31-1 and the read across substances and based on the category approach of organic functional group along with similar mechanistic approach and having structural similarities defined by QSAR toolbox. The results is summarized as follows

By applying weight of evidence approach to the studies summarized in the above table it can be observed that LC50 value is expected to be in range of 5.1 to 154 mg/l in a 24 to 48 hrs study on the basis of mortality effect. But the BCF value of Sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate reported was not >= 2000 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable. Thus according to CLP criteria of aquatic classification it is concluded that the substance Sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate is not toxic to aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna, Artemia salina and Brachionus plicatilis)
