Data from publication CAS NO 151-21-3

Based on above table, endpoint value was found to vary between 1288 mg/kg bw to 15000 mg/kg bw which are much higher values. Since the LD50 for target chemical is greater than 2000 mg/kg bw/d which was the criteria for classification towards acute toxicity, it is concluded that the substance Sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate does not exhibits acute toxicity by the oral route.

Acute toxicity : inhalation

The test substance has very low vapor pressure , so the potential for the generation of inhalable forms is low, also the normal conditions of use of this substance will not result in aerosols, particles or droplets of an inhalable size, so exposure to humans via the inhalatory route will be unlikely to occur, and therefore no acute inhalation test was performed.

Acute toxicity :dermal

Data from publication for CAS: 151-21-3

Based on the values summarized in above table, it was found that the endpoint values vary between 580 mg/L to 3658.33 mg/kg bw. Since the LD50 for target chemical is greater than 2000 mg/kg bw/d which was the criteria for classification towards acute toxicity, it is concluded that Sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate does not exhibits acute toxicity by the dermal route.

Justification for selection of acute toxicity – inhalation endpoint
The test substance has very low vapor pressure , so the potential for the generation of inhalable forms is low, also the normal conditions of use of this substance will not result in aerosols, particles or droplets of an inhalable size, so exposure to humans via the inhalatory route will be unlikely to occur, and therefore no acute inhalation test was performed.

Justification for selection of acute toxicity – dermal endpoint
The acute dermal median lethal dose (LD50) of sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate in rabbit was found to be 3658.33 mg/kg bw.Acute toxicity of sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate to rabbit by the dermal route indicates that sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate does not exhibits acute toxicity by the dermal route within the doses mentioned.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance sodium 2-(2-dodecyloxyethoxy) ethyl sulphate do not show toxicity effect for oral, dermal and inhalation route and thus will not be considered for further classification.
