Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Toxicity to fish:

No experimental data are available for Dodecyloxirane: A read across approach was performed with the structural supporting substance decyloxirane. Decyloxirane was investigated for acute toxicity to the guppy. The 14 day LC50 for decyloxirane was estimated to 1.11 mg/L (Deneer, 1988). Correlations with QSAR calcualtions indicate that the toxicity might even be higher than revealed in the experiment. Therefore, the test result is considered only as supporting study.

Additional QSAR calculations were performed to close this data gap that no experimental data are available for Dodecyloxirane. QSAR calculations with ECOSAR (version v.1.00, neutral organic_ baseline toxicity) and Catalogic (version 5.11.16) indicate for Dodecyloxirane a fish toxicity between 0.105 - 0.34 mg/l.

Toxicity to Daphnia:

The acute toxicity of the test item to Daphnia was tested in a 48 h static test according to EU method C.2 (Directive EEC/92/69; 31 July 1992). The test item was applied in concentrations of 1000 and 3000 mg/L (nominal). The WAF (Water accomodated Fractions) of the substance, which were prepared by 24 h stirring of the nominal test substance concentrations and siphoning of the aqueous phase, were applied. An EC50 of less than 1000 mg test item/L (nominal concentration) was estimated (Henkel, 1998).

Since no reliable experimental data are available for Dodecyloxirane to derive an EC 50, additional QSAR calculations were performed to close this data gap. QSAR calculations with ECOSAR (version v.1.00, neutral organic_ baseline toxicity) and Catalogic (version 5.11.16) indicate for Dodecyloxirane a daphnia toxicity between 0.094 - 0.095 mg/l . The substances are covered by the applicability domaine of the QSAR tools for baseline toxicity.

Toxicity to algae:

In a new guideline studies with GLP according to OECD 201 the green algae (Pseudo-kirchneriella subspicata)was exposed for 72h towards the test substance. The EC50 for growth rate was determined to be 0.00236 mg/l based on mean measure concentrations and 0.0336 mg/l based on mean measured concentration at the start of exposure. The NOEC for growth rate was determined to be 0.00165 mg/l based on mean measure concentrations and 0.00795 mg/l based on mean measured concentration at the start of exposure.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

Toxicity data for dodecylxirane is deviated from the OECD 301 B test with decyloxirane. In line with the “REACH guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R10 Table R10.6” the NOEC for microorganisms was based on the inhibition control of the OECD 301 B test to be 26.1 mg/l.
