Description of key information

Sodium diethyldithiocarbamate is characterised as “readily biodegradable”.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

No data on biodegradation is available for sodium diethyldithiocarbamate. However, data from the structural analogue sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate have been used for the assessment. In a GLP-compliant OECD Guideline 301 D (Ready Biodegradability: Closed Bottle Test) 67% degradation after 28 days has been observed (van der Kerken, 2003).
