Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

non flammable
no pyrophoricity
no flammability on contact with water

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The substance is non-flammable as determined in the weight of evidence approach, taking into account the results of the tests according to EU Method A.10, performed with sulfuric acid, mono-C8-14 alkyl esters, ammonium salts (CAS No. 90583-10-1), and sulfuric acid, mono-C8-14 alkyl esters, compound with triethanolamine (CAS No. 85665-45-8). The two read-across substances can be seen as complementary to each other, providing both counter ions present in the target substance. The test performed with the substance 90583-10-1 has resulted in the burning time of 80 s/100 mm, and the main test with the substance 85665-45-8 was not performed because the non-flammability was already determined in the preliminary test.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

Based on the weight of evidence approach, no propagation of burning is concluded from tests according to EU Method A.10, performed with two close structural analogues from the category Alkyl Sulphates.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
