TGA EXPERIMENT

From 225°C upwards the weight of the sample decreased significantly. At 299°C, the sample weight had decreased by 25%.

DSC EXPERIMENTS

In each of the DSC curves an endothermic peak between 200°C and 375°C was observed with an extrapolated onset temperature of 282.41°C (Experiment 1), 291.58°C (Experiment 2), 274.35°C (Experiment 3) or 297.60°C (Experiment 4).

The endothermic peak in Experiment 2 (closed sample container), shifted to a higher temperature compared to Experiment 1 (and Experiment 3) which indicated boiling. However the higher extrapolated onset temperature measured in Experiment 4 demonstrated that reaction and/or decomposition of the test substance was the reason for the endothermic effect.

After each experiment it was observed that the test substance was evaporated from the sample container.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
In a GLP-compliant study in accordance with EC A.2, OECD 103 and EPA OPPTS 830.7220 using differential scanning calorimetry, decomposition started at 200°C before boiling was reached. It was therefore concluded that X-22-1927 has no boiling temperature.
