Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
migrated information: read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Reliability:
3 (not reliable)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
Exposure concentrations cannot be hydrogen sulfide concentrations (maybe total sulfide?) and were not measured. No concentration response relationship was presented. Only survival times (minimal-maximal) were reported. Materials and methods section not satisfactorily described.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
In this study goldfish (Carassius auratus) were exposed to a series of increasing sulfide concentrations and survival time was monitored. The LT100 values ranged from > 96 h at 1 mg/L (most likely S2-) to 1 h at 1000 mg/L (most likely S2-). From these results a 1-h and 4-h LC50 of 1000 and 100 mg/L (most likely S2-) could be derived, respectively.
