Endpoint:
flammable gases
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
31 October 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
Assessed using appropriate methodology.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Remarks:
Conducted under non-GLP, but to appropriate methodology.

EC number: 210-933-7
LOT number: JB1906150101
Purity: 99.8 % (w/w %)
Appearance: Off white solid flakes
Manufacture date: 15 June 2019
Expiry date: 15 June 2020

Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The test item was ground using a porcelain mortar. The sample mould was filled with the fine powdered test item. One end of the powder train was heated for 2 minutes with a hot flame using a gas burner, followed by 2 minutes-long observation period without heating. During the 4 minutes test period, the test item melted and carbonised, but no ignition or combustion was observed. According to the guideline, the test item shall be classified as non-flammable.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
Since the test item did not show ignition and did not propagate combustion during the 4 minutes test phase, it is classified as non-flammable.

Description of key information

Since the test item did not show ignition and did not propagate combustion during the 4 minutes test phase, it is classified as non-flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
