Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Skin sensitisation (in vitro / in chemico and in vivo): Data waiving

As the registered substance is classified for its skin corrosion properties as Skin Corr. 1B (H314), no skin sensitisation studies have to be conducted according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), Annex VII, Item 8.3, Column 2.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) stipulates in its Annex VII that skin sensitisation tests do not need to be conducted if the registered substance is classified as skin corrosion. Since N-(1-oxotetradecyl)sarcosine (CAS 52558-73-3) is classified as Skin Corr. 1B as a result of reliable in vitro and in vivo data obtained with adequate analogue substances, testing for skin sensitisation is deemed not suitable and necessary. As a result of the skin corrosion properties, contact by any route of exposure to the substance must be avoided and effects related to skin sensitisation - if any - are avoided as well.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the absence of appropriate experimental data, N-(1-oxotetradecyl)sarcosine (CAS 52558-73-3) is not classified for skin sensitisation due to lack of data.
