Description of key information

The test item, fatty acids, lanolin, achieved 71% degradation after 28 days, but failed to satisfy the 10-Day window validation criterion, whereby 60% degradation must be attained within 10 days of the degradation exceeding 10%. As the test item is a UVCB the 10-day window criterion may not be relevant and it was concluded that the test item has exhibited the potential for rapid degradation.

Additional information

The biodegradation in water endpoint is completed using data read across from a structurally similar substance, fatty acids, lanolin. A study with fatty acid lanolin was performed to assess the ready biodegradability of the test item in an aerobic aqueous medium according to the OECD 301B guideline.
