Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Conclusion on classification

Classification related key information

Biodegradation:

·        Biodegradation in water: 0% (based on O2 consumption) in 28 d (OECD 301 F, 302 C)

Bioaccumulation:

·        log Kow: 10.1 (OECD 117)

·        BCF (0.01 mg/L) : <9 to 45, BCF (0.001 mg/L): <76 to 94 (OECD 305)

·        BCF = 60.74 L/kg (BCFBAF v3.01, EPISUITE v 4.11)

Water solubility:

·        Water solubility < 0.00042 mg/L

Acute toxicity:

·        to fish: LC50 (96 h, Gobiocypris rarus) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 203)

·        to aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48 h, Daphnia magna) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 202)

·        to algae: EC50 (72 h, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 201)

Chronic toxicity:

·        to fish: NOEC (28 d, Gobiocypris rarus) ≥ 100 mg/L (nominal,OECD 204)

·        to aquatic invertebrates: NOEC (21 d, Daphnia magna) ≥ 10 mg/L (nominal, OECD 211) based on reproduction

·        to algae: LOEC (72 h, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 201)

Classification justification according to CLP

Reaction mass of 1,1'-(isopropylidene)bis[3,5-dibromo-4-(2,3-dibromo-2-methylpropoxy)benzene] and 1,3-dibromo-2-(2,3-dibromo-2-methylpropoxy)-5-{2-[3,5-dibromo-4-(2,3,3-tribromo-2-methylpropoxy)phenyl]propan-2-yl}benzene is not readily biodegradable but showed no acute or long term aquatic toxicity effects up to the limit of water solubility and reveals a BCF of < 500. Therefore, the substance does not need to be classified and labelled as hazardous to the environment according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 (CLP) and all further amendments (ATPs).
