Description of key information

Non flammable upon ignition.
The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases in contact with water.
The substance is not a self-reactive substance or mixture.
The substance is not a self-heating substance.
The substance is not an organic peroxide.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water are not to be expected.
The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-reactive as the heat of decomposition is greater than 300 J/g, but the onset temperature is greater than 200 °C.
The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as an organic peroxide as by definition based on their chemical structure the substance is no organic peroxide.

Flammable solids:
A test according to UN Transport Regulations Test N. 1 was conducted. Based on the results of a preliminary test the test substance is not considered as a flammable solid (BASF 2014, SIK-Nr. 14/2209).

Self-heating:

A self-heating test was performed according to the method described in the VDI 2263, part 1, chapter 1.4.1, 1990. No self-heating was observed up to 350 °C (BASF 2014, SIK-Nr. 14/2209).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

Based on the chemical structure and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the sixth time in Regulation (EC) No 605/2014, the substance is not considered to be classified as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, self-reactive substance, self-heating substance or organic peroxide.
