All substances in the Dimerised Fatty Acids category are derived from the dimerisation of typical (unsaturated) fatty acids of the parent triglycerides. QSAR estimates can be made on the individual chain lengths (Bucior 2012a, b, d, e, f, g).

A low volatilisation potential is expected due to estimated negligible vapour pressures (U.S. EPA HPV report (2009)).

The determined log Kow of the substance is judged to be > 4. Thus, an adsorption to organic carbon in soils and sediments of Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers (CAS No. 61788-89-4) is expected. Soil and sediment are expected to be the main compartments with regard to distribution based on the low water solubility, no potential for volatilization, and a log Koc value of > 5.
