First-aid measures

General information:

Take persons to a safe place. Observe self-protection for first aid. Always seek medical advice in the event of contact with this substance.

After contact with the eyes:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with water. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

After contact with the skin:

Remove contaminated clothes at once. Wash off with plenty of water or water and soap immediately for 10-15 minutes. In serious cases, use emergency shower immediately. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.

After inhalation:

Keep the patient calm. If unconscious place in stable sideways position. Protect against loss of body heat. If breathing stops, administer artificial respiration. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.

After swallowing:

If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Symptoms of poisoning may not become apparent until after many hours - medical monitoring is therefore required for at least 48 hours after any accident.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Use water spray (not stream) to fight fires. alcohol-resistant foam . For laboratory-standard quantities: carbon dioxide .

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

water jet .

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

organic decomposition products .

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for fire fighting:

Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

General information:

Fight fire from a safe distance. Cool endangered containers with water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear personal protection equipment (see section 8). Avoid inhaling mists and vapours.

Environmental precautions:

Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Prevent material from entering sewers or surface waters. Dispose of in prescribed marked containers. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulations. Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers.

Further information:

Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. During transfusion electrostatic charging possible. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:

Do not store in iron containers.

Advice for storage of incompatible materials:

Do not store together with fire-promoting and spontaneously inflammable substances or with highly inflammable solids.

Further information for storage:

Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure in the work place limited and controlled

General protection and hygiene measures:

Avoid exposure. Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Wash hands at the end of work and before eating. Keep away from foodstuff, drink and feedingstuff. Keep working clothes separately. Provide emergency shower and eye-bath.

Personal protection equipment:

Respiratory protection:

If handled uncovered, use respiratory protective equipment. Respirator with a full face mask, according to acknowledged standards such as EN 136.

Recommended Filter type: Gas filter type ABEK (certain inorganic, organic and acidic gases and vapors; ammonia/amines), according to acknowledged standards such as EN 14387

In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus

Eye protection:

tight fitting protective goggles . In case of long or strong exposure: look to respiratory protection .

Hand protection:

Recommended glove types: Protective gloves made of butyl rubber

thickness of the material: 0,7 mm

Breakthrough time: < 480 min

Gloves are required at all times when handling the material. Because of the product properties, gloves are generally only suitable for protection against splashes. Due to the substance‘s properties, contaminated gloves must be immediately decontaminated and changed.

Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Note that, due to the numerous external influences (such as temperature), a chemically resistant protective glove in daily use may have a service life that is considerably shorter than the measured break through time.

Skin protection:

antistatic protective clothing and shoes , Chemical protective clothing, full-body liquid-tight protection if necessary. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability time which are provided by the supplier.

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled:

Prevent material from entering surface waters and soil.

Stability and reactivity

General information:

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.

Conditions to avoid:

none known.

Materials to avoid:

oxidizing agents , amines , strong bases.

Hazardous decomposition products:

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices and local regulations where applicable: none known .

Further information:

In use, may form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture.

Disposal considerations

Material:

Recommendation:

Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging:

Recommendation:

Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.

Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
