Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

OECD TG 209 study on inhibition of activated sludge (test facility BASF, year 1992). An EC20 of ca. 650 mg/L was pointed out in the study report. Furthermore, the author of the IUCLID data set pointed out a EC10 of ca. 450 mg/L and a NOEC of ca. 300 mg/L by visual evaluation of the results diagram.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
300 mg/L

Additional information

In the study report was mentioned that the test material 3-Methylbutylacetat did not completely dissolve in water when the parent solution was prepared. Therefore, the actual concentration of the test material in the test vessels could have been slightly lower than the nominal concentration and thus the actual EC10 of 3-Methylbutylacetat could be lower to some degree. Anyhow, an inhibitory effect of 3-Methylbutylacetat on activated sludge was observed.
