Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
11 FEB 2013 - 11 MAR 2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ISO standard 7346/3
GLP compliance:
yes
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Details on properties of test surrogate or analogue material:
Physico-chemical properties
- water solubility: 2.59 - 2.96 g/L
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
In order to verify the actual concentration of the test product in the test solutions, samples were collected at test start, before and after renewal af the test solutions and at the end of the test for chemical analysis of the test product. Duplicate samples of 10 ml were collected in 25 ml plastic vials. The samples were stored at -20 ± 2.0°C . Only one of these samples were analysed and only those relevant for calculation of the LCx concentrations. The spare samples were discarded after sponsor approved the report.
Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
A stock solution of 120 mg/l were prepared by weighing out 240 mg of the test product and dissolving it in 2 l of zebra fish test medium. The test solution were prepared by diluting the stock solution in the zebra fish test medium. A fresh stock solution were prepared for renewal for the test solution after 48 hours.
Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Details on test organisms:
The test fish were obtained from Credo Fish, Nørresundby, Denmark
The fish had a length of 2 ± 1 cm
Test type:
semi-static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
96 h
Nominal and measured concentrations:
The analytically determined test item concentrations in the analyzed test media samples at the start of the test.
The values found at the end of the test ranged from 90 to 104% of the nominel values. Under the test conditions the test item was stable during the test period of 96 hours.
Key result
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
63 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
LC50(96h) value on zebra fish is 63 mg/L. The validation of the test concentrations by chemicals analyses showed a deviation from the nominal concentration throughout the test lower than 20%. Therefore, results are based on the nominal concentration.
Executive summary:

Short term toxicity to fish test was done according to OECD Guideline 203. Zebra fishs (Danio rerio) were exposed to test item in fresh-water under semi-static conditions for 96hours. Based on nominal concentration, LC50 (96h) value is 63 mg/L. Result of the study would lead to the classification of Category Chronic 3. according to CLP regulation EC 1272/2008.
