Description of key information

Proportion of inhalable particle size (<100 µm): 75.9%, Sieve method; Proportion of thoracic particle size (<10.0 µm): 0.10%, Cascade impactor method; Proportion of respirable particle size (<5.5 µm): 0.05%, Cascade impactor method

Additional information

Particle size distribution of test item was investigated using a procedure designed to comply with the European Commission technical guidance document 'Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution' (June 1996). This procedure was in accordance with OECD Guideline 110 and the Council Directive 91/414/EEC, Annex 111 as amended in Commission Directive 94/37/EC, Annex I and Annex 11.

The following results for the particle size distribution of test substance were obtained in the screening test (sieve method) and the definite test (cascade impactor method):

Fraction

Method

Results

Proportion of the test item having an inhalable particle size <100 µm

Sieve

75.9%

Proportion of the test item having an inhalable particle size < 10.0 µm

Cascade impactor

0.10%

Proportion of the test item having a respirable particle size < 5.5 µm

Cascade impactor

0.05%
