Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not relevant in regard to abiotic degradation in the environment (DT50 > 1 yr, at pH 7).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis of Fatty acids, tall oil, esters with dipentaerythritol (CAS 70913-98-3) are available. The substance is exhibits a low water solubility (<0.04 mg/L; Frischmann, 2013). In accordance with Annex VIII, 9.2.2.1, column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 testing of hydrolysis as a function of pH is not needed because the substance is highly insoluble in water. Calculated half-lives for the substance components (DT50 [pH7] > 1 yr) indicate that abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is not relevant regarding the environmental fate of the substance (HYDROWIN v2.00, Kuckuck, 2013).
