Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of the substance was tested in an enhanced CO2 -evolution study according to OECD guideline 301 B. The biodegradation rate was determined after 60 days by measuring the CO2 -evolution of domestic activated sludge at a test substance concentration of 16 mg/l. After the incubation time a degradation rate of 70 - 80 % was determined.

However, the substance consists of both a poorly water soluble pigment (CAS 147-14-8) and a well water soluble tensid (dodecylbenzylsulfonic acid). Due to the structure of the molecule and the extremely low water solubility of the substance biodegradation of this pigment is not expected. The observed biodegradation is due to the tensid only, which itself is readily biodegradable.
