Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance belongs to a group of Natural Complex Substances (NCS): UVCB sub-type 3, where the source is biological and the process is refinement (See ECHA Guidance on Identification and naming of substances under REACH); such as: exudates, resinoids and concretes that are well-known to be very difficult to analytically assess. These complex UVCB substances contain a large number of constituents with different volatility and solubility (mostly low solubility); the composition can be widely unknown and being (mostly) solid(ish) and/or extremely viscous resins their physical state leads to further difficulties for testing.

Considering the very complex nature of the test item (UVCB, Viscous liquid, mainly composed of unknown constituents), physico-chemical properties of the registered substance were determined from experimental testing when possible. Some endpoints were waived, based on the experience in handling, testing and use of the substance and on the chemical structure of the known constituents. We also considered waiving based on the technical issues due to the complex nature of such UVCB substance especially when the information obtained from testing was not relevant or of practical use and irrelevant for subsequent assessments.

The substance is described as a brown viscous liquid. It has density a slightly higer than water.

The substance is classified as Flammable Liquid, Category 3, based on both Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation) and GHS. No other hazard was identified with regard to physical properties (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation).

The vapour pressure of the test item was determined to be 3346 Pa at 20.0 °C and 4241 Pa at 25.0 °C.

Log Kow

(data waiving + QSAR method)

Waived based on technical issue and poor knownledge of the composition of the substance + Estimation on known constituents of the registered substance.

Water solubility

(data waiving)

Waived considering the very complex nature of the test item, the information obtained from testing is considered as not relevant or of practical use for subsequent assessments.

Surface tension

(data Waiving)

Waived as the substance is not intended to be used as surfactant (i.e. not a desired property)

Auto-ignition temperature
(EU A15, DIN 51794 / DIN 14522)
The auto-ignitition temperature of the test substance was determined to be 425°C at a pressure ranged from 1001.4 to 1008.2 mBar
Flash-point

Flash point of test substance was 57.0 ± 0.5 °C at 101.3 kPa.

Flammable Liquid, category 3.

Flammable on Ignition

(data waiving)

Study technically not feasible: Waived for liquids. Please refer to Flash Point for liquid.

Pyrophoric Liquid
(data waiving)

Study scientifically not necessary: Waived based on experience in handling and use and chemical structure of known constituents of the substance.

NOT flammable if contact with air.

Flammabily in water
(data waiving)

Study scientifically not necessary: Waived based on experience in handling and use and on chemical structure of known constituents of the substance.

NOT flammable if contact with  water.

Self-heating substances
(data Waiving)

Study scientifically not necessary: Waived based on chemical structure of known contituents of the substance and because the substance is a liquid. The surface of liquids is not large enough for reaction with air. Liquids, unless adsorbed, are not classified as self-heating.
