Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
The substance is an inorganic, solid material that is synthesized at temperatures around 650 °C. No propensity for self-ignition was seen up to this temperature. Based on that and on long term experience in use and handling of the substance testing for this endpoint is considered to be scientifically unjustified.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Results

Preliminary test
No burning. Therefore, the preliminary screening test is negative.

Maintest:
Omitted due to result of preliminary test.

Interpretation of the results
According to the result of the preliminary test the test substance is not considered as a flammable solid. The result does not lead to a classification.

Interpretation of the results
According to the result of the preliminary test the test substance is not considered as a flammable solid. The result does not lead to a classification.

Description of key information

The substance is determined not to be flammable.
The substance has no pyrophoric properties and does not liberate flammable gases in contact with water.
The substance is not a self-heating substance or mixture.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

According to the result of the preliminary test in accordance with the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, Test N.1 bothe tested forms of the test substance are not considered as a flammable solid. The results does not lead to a classification

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as pyrophoric as based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties are not to be expected.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as a substance which in contact with water emit flammable gases as based on chemical structure flammability in contact with water is not to be expected.

The substance or mixture does not need to be classified as self-heating as the substance if preliminary results exclude self-heating of the substance up to 400°C.

The substance is an inorganic, solid material that is synthesized at temperatures around 650 °C. No propensity for self-ignition was seen up to this temperature. Based on that and on long term experience in use and handling of the substance testing for this endpoint is considered to be scientifically unjustified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with Annex I, Section 2.1, Section 2.2, Section 2.3, Section 2.7, Section 2.9, Section 2.10 Section 2.11, Section 2.12 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and UN GHS Rev 6 (2015) the substance has not to be classified as readily combustible solid in class 4 Division 4.1, self-heating substance in Class 4 Division 4.2, substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases in Class 4 Division 4.3, pyrophoric liquid, pyrophoric solid in class 4 Division 4.2, flammable gases in class 2 or as aerosol in class 2.
