Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for type of information:
The material is composed of spray-dried cells of Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) expressing the dehalogenase enzyme. The Escherichia coli is grown in a fermenter on a nutrient medium mainly comprised of inorganic salts (including (NH4)SO2, K2HPO4, MgSO4 and FeSO4), yeast extract and glucose. In addition, SiO2 is added prior to spray drying. However, the final composition of the material is unknown due to the substance is to be registered as an UVCB (Unknown or Variable composition, Complex reaction products or Biological materials) and a definitive degree of purity cannot be determined.

The test substance ”Escherichia coli dehalogenase catalyst“ was to be assessed for its vapour pressure. An experimental determination of the vapour pressure following the given methodology is not applicable due to the test items characteristic; this also applies to QSPR calculations.
Taken together, the vapour pressure under exclusion of the water content of the sample is estimated to be < 10 -3 Pa.
In terms of REACH registration purposes, the related Guidance document published by the ECHA states that “for substances which decompose during measurement […], the determination of the vapour pressure may not be technically possible”. This is the case for the present test item.
