Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No explosivity data are available for [2-(perfluorobutyl)ethyl]dichloro(methyl)silane (CAS No. 38436-16-7), therefore reliable data for the analogue substance [2 -(perfluorohexyl)ethyl]trichlorosilane (CAS No. 78560-45-9) has been read-across. The calculated oxygen balance of [2-(perfluorobutyl)ethyl]dichloro(methyl)silane was -78 and that of its structural analogue was -60.

[2-(Perfluorohexyl)ethyl]trichlorosilane was found to be not explosive in a reliable standard study conducted in accordance with EU Method A.14 and in compliance with a known quality system (ISO 17025). It can therefore be concluded that the presence of a chloro group in an organosilicon compound is not associated with explosive properties. Additional information is given in a supporting report (PFA 2013c) attached in section 13.
