According to REACH Regulation (Annex VII, 7.12, column II), the study on flammability is not needed, if the substance is completely molten at 160 °C. Sodium N-methyltaurinate has a melting point of 160 °C. In addition, the substance is manufactured and used as aqueous solution of maximal 62 %, reducing the flammability. Thus, it can be considered that the substance is not flammable.
This is supported by the fact that the read-across substance sodium methyl oleoyl taurate is considered to be non-flammable according to the peer-reviewed GSBL database. However, the database does not provide additional information on the testing method and purity, impurities or composition of the tested material.
