Description of key information
The study does not need to be conducted because from data for all 3 trophic levels there is no indication that thorough assessment on long-term toxicity to fish is necessary.

In accordance with column 2 Annex IX section 9.1 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), the study on long-term toxicity to fish does not need to be conducted because from the available acute data for structural analogue substances and the chronic data that are available, for all 3 trophic levels, for the structural analogue methyl methacrylate (CAS 80 -62-6) and the primary metabolite methacrylic acid (CAS 79-41-4) there is no indication that fish are any more sensitive than aquatic invertebrates and algae to this substance. Furthermore, performing the chronic fish study, a vertebrate study falling under the animal protection legislation of the EU (86/609/EEC), is unjustified.
