Description of key information

Three acute fish toxicity studies (Dill DC, Bartlett EA & Lehr KM (1988a), Dill DC, Bartlett EA & Lehr KM (1988b) and Dill DC, Bartlett EA & Lehr KM (1988c)) were conducted using three different species of fish (Salmo gairdneri Richardson, Lepomis macrochirus and Pimephales promelas). All three studies showed that the 96 hour LC50 was greater than the water solubility; approximately 300 mg/L. An additional acute fish toxicity study was also available (Manning CS (1988a)) which gave a 96 hour LC50 value of >379 mg/L; this study is of a lower reliability than the other three (Klimisch 2), and as such is provided as supporting information only.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Three key studies were chosen for this endpoint, as all were of equal reliability (Klimisch 1) and all performed to the same test guideline. All of the tests showed the 96 hour LC50 value was greater than the limit of solubility in water; approximately 300 mg/L.
