Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
July 2, 2003 - July 24, 2003
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Version / remarks:
(1992)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Version / remarks:
(1989)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 6
Temp.:
24.5 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Pow of 1E06. Non-buffered mobile phase
Details on results:
- In the HPLC chromatogram of the test substance one peak was observed. The mean retention time was 63.58 minutes.
- Under the same conditions, the mean retention time of DDT (log Pow=6.2) was 25.3 minutes
- The mean retention time of formamide was 1.24 minutes
Conclusions:
In a GLP-compliant study in accordance with EC A.8 and OECD 117 using the HPLC method, the log Pow of KY-UN has been determined as >6. The HPLC chromatogram of the test substance showed one peak; with a retention time > reference substance DDT (logPow=6.2).

Description of key information

The log Kow of KY-UN has been determined to be > 6 in a study according to OECD 117 (HPLC method).

The log Kow of KY-UN is 9.25 based on a KOWWIN (v1.68) calculation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
9.25
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The log Kow of >6 was determined in a GLP-compliant study in accordance with EC A.8 and OECD 117 using the HPLC method. The HPLC chromatogram of the test substance showed one peak; with a retention time > reference substance DDT (logPow=6.2).

Calculation of the log Kow with KOWWIN (v1.68) gives a value of 9.25, which is considered as key value.
