The results of published studies confirm the oxidative metabolism of octanal to octanoic acid and acetoacetate. In the absence of experiemental data, default values for oral absorption (50%), dermal absorption (50%) and inhalation absorption (100%) are assumed. Based on the physicochemical properties and metabolsim, octanal is considered unlikely to bioaccumulate.
