First-aid measures

General advice:

Symptoms of poisoning may only appear several hours later. When symptoms persist or in all cases of doubt seek medical advice. Remove from exposure, lie down. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Inhalation:

After inhalation of vapours during processing, remove the patient to fresh air at once.

Skin contact:

Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. If symptoms persist, call a physician. Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.

Eye contact:

In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Ingestion:

Should the product be swallowed seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam, Dry chemical

Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or mixture itself, combustion products, resulting gases:

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

Firemen must wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Additional advice:

Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Use personal protective equipment.

Environmental precautions:

Prevent entry into drains, waters or soil. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Methods for cleaning up:

Take up avoiding formation of dust. Fill into labelled, sealable containers.

Handling and storage

Handling

Advice on safe handling:

Provide adequate ventilation and, if necessary, exhaust ventilation during handling or transferring of the product. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations. Persons with a history of skin sensitisation problems or asthma, allergies, chronic or recurrent respiratory disease should not be employed in any process in which this mixture is being used.

Storage

German storage class: 11 Combustible Solids

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. No special storage conditions required.

Advice on common storage:

Keep away from foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco.

Additional advice:

No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure limit values:

Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Limitation and supervision of the exposition:

see chapter "Handling and Storage"

Limitation and supervision of the exposition at working place:

Respiratory protection:

In case of dust formation particle filter, e.g. DIN 3181 P 2.

Hand protection:

Chemical-resistant protective gloves according to DIN/EN 374 are recommended. Only suitable for brief exposure. In the event of contamination, change protective gloves immediately. Avoid skin contact with the wetted surfaces of the protective gloves.

Eye protection:

Safety glasses

Hygiene measures:

Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Keep working clothes separately. Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

Protective measures:

When handling observe the usual precautionary measures for chemicals.

Environmental precautions:

see chapter "Accidental Release Measures"

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid:

Extremes of temperature and direct sunlight.

Materials to avoid:

Keep away from reducing agents, oxidising agents, acids and bases.

Thermal decomposition:

Does not occur until flash point reached.

Hazardous decomposition products:

No hazardous decomposition products when stored and handled correctly. Formation of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and other toxic gases in the event of fire or during thermal decomposition.

Hazardous reactions:

No hazardous reactions when used as directed.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues:

The relevant EC Directives as well as local, regional and national regulations have to be observed. It is among the tasks of the polluter to assign the waste to waste codes specific to industrial sectors and processes according to the European Waste Catalogue. It is recommended that details be sorted out with the waste disposer responsible.

Waste key for the unused product:

For disposal within the EC, the appropriate code according to the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) should be used.

Method of disposal:

The waste can be disposed of in a suitable incinerator, provided that national/local legislation is complied with.

Contaminated packaging:

After containers have been emptied as thoroughly as possible (e.g. by pouring, scraping or draining until "drip-dry"), they can be sent to an appropriate collection point set up within the framework of the existing take-back scheme of the chemical industry. Containers must be recycled in compliance with national legislation and environmental regulations.
