First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

In case of inhalation: Provide fresh air. Seek medical aid in case of troubles.

Following skin contact: Remove residues with water. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing and wash it

before reuse.

In case of skin irritation, consult a physician.

After eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids

apart. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Subsequently

consult an ophthalmologist.

After swallowing: Rinse mouth immediately and drink plenty of water. Seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Causes serious eye irritation. May cause respiratory irritation. May cause drowsiness or

dizziness.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguishing powder, sand, cement. In enclosed areas: carbon dioxide.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:Water, foam

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

- Flammable liquid and vapour. May form dangerous gases and vapours in case of fire.

- n enclosed areas: Risk of suffocation

- Product must not come into contact with water.

- Caution! In case of contact with water, humid air or acids, inflammable, explosive gas-air mixtures are formed.

Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

Additional information: Hazchem-Code: •3Y

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear suitable protective clothing. Take off contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse. Do not breathe vapours. Keep unprotected people away. Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Keep away from water.

Environmental precautions: Do not allow to penetrate into soil, waterbodies or drains. Danger of explosion!

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up: Take up with non-flammable, liquid binding material (e.g. sand/earth/diatomaceous earth/vermiculit) and perform disposal according to instructions. Never use water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

-  adequate ventilation, and local exhaust as needed.

- Do not breathe vapour/aerosol.

- Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wear appropriate protective equipment.

- Guarantee sufficient ventilation during and after use, in order to prevent vapour accumulation.

- Avoid the formation of ignitible and explosion- hazardous solution vapours.

- Anti-static clothing including shoes are recommended. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Requirements for storeroo- ms and containers:

- Keep container tightly closed and dry. Protect from moisture.

- Storage temperature 15 °C up to 25 °C. Provide good ventilation.

Hints on joint storage:

- Avoid contact with strong acids, strong bases and strong oxidizing agents.

- Do not store together with food.

- Do not store together with combustible or self-igniting materials or any highly flammable solids.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Provide for good ventilation or exhaust system or work with completely self-contained equipment. Explosion protection required.

Occupational exposure controls

Respiratory protection:

Respiratory protection must be worn whenever the WEL levels have been exceeded.

Combinationsfilter A-(P2) use according to EN 14387.

Have a breathing apparatus that is not dependent on the circulating air ready for

emergencies. The filter class must be suitable for the maximum contaminant

concentration (gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that may arise when handling the product.

Hand protection:

Protective gloves according to EN 374.

Permanent contact:

Glove material Nitrile rubber, Layer thickness: 0,35 mm.

Breakthrough time: >480min.

Glove material: Butyl caoutchouc (butyl rubber) Layer thickness: 0,5 mm.

Breakthrough time: >480min.

Splash guard:

Glove material Polychloroprene CR Layer thickness: 0,5 mm.

Breakthrough time: >240min.

Unsuitable glove material: NR (natural rubber, natural latex)., PVC (polyvinyl chloride)

Observe glove manufacturer's instructions concerning penetrability and breakthrough time.

Gloves should be changed regularly to avoid permeation problems.

Eye protection:

Tightly sealed goggles according to EN 166.

Body protection:

Solvent-resistant protective clothing

Recommendation: Flame retardant, antistatic and chemical resistant protective clothing.

General protection and hygiene measures:

Do not breathe vapour/aerosol.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Wash hands before breaks and after work. Safety shower and eye wash station should be

easily accessible to the work area.

Use only non-sparking tools. Keep away from sources of heat (e.g. hot surfaces), sparks

and open flames.

Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Flammable liquid and vapour. Hygroscopic

Chemical stability: no data available

Possibility of hazardous reactions Hazardous reactions: Reacts violently with water. Forms slippery surfaces with water..

Conditions to avoid: Keep away from heat. Protect from moisture contamination.

Incompatible materials: iolent reaction with water, acids.

Hazardous decomposition products: Product forms with water: 2-butanol and Aluminium hydroxide

Thermal decomposition: no data available

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product: Special waste. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.

Contaminated packaging: Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.

Non-contaminated packages may be recycled.
