Description of key information

Additional information

The physical and chemical properties taken into account for the Chemical Safety Assessment are:

Appearance of the substance:

The substance is marketed as slurry (water content up to 60%) or as granular solid (water content up to 25%). The dried form is a solid.

Melting point/freezing point:

The initial freezing point of the marketed form is < 0° C (the substance is dispersed in water). The melting point of the substance (dry fraction) is > 300° C (dry residue of the slurry at 600° C is 39 -40% w/w).

Boiling point:

The initial boiling point of the marketed form is > 100° C (the substance is dispersed in water). The determination of the boiling point of the substance (dry fraction) is not required, because of the high melting point (> 300°C).

Density:

The density of the slurry is 1200 -1600 g/L.

Vapour pressure:

Vapour pressure of the marketed form (acqueous dispersion) is that of water; the determination of the vapour pressure of the substance (dry fraction) is not required, because of the high melting point (> 300°C).

Water solubility:

0.84 g/L (for the substance /dry fraction). The pH of the saturated solution (0.84 g/L) is 12.8.

Viscosity:

10 – 60 cPs (for the slurry)
