Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

An Activated Sludge Respiration Inhibition Test (ASRIT) was conducted (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2011) to assess the effect of ETD on microorganisms. The study was conducted according to OECD test guideline 209 and EC guideline C11. The study was performed in compliance with GLP.

The respiration rate over 3 hours of samples of sludge from a predominantly domestic source was measured. A series of solutions were tested, with concentrations10, 30, 100, 300, and 1000 mg/L ETD; control vessels (sludge only) were tested at the start and end of the test series, and a positive control substance (3,5 -DCP) was assessed at concentrations 3, 10, and 32 mg/L.

The three-hour EC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L, the highest concentration tested. The 3 -hour EC20 was calculated to be 823 mg/L.

For the purpose of determining the Predicted No Effect Concentration in Sewage Treatment Plants (PNEC (STP)), the NOEC is considered to be 300 mg/L, as this was the highest concentration tested below the EC20 showing no inhibition.
