Description of key information

From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that ETD, would not have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

An assessment of the explosive properties of ETD was conducted as part of a package of physico-chemical testing (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2010, Study number VHJ0011). The testing was conducted in compliance with GLP, and the explosive properties assessment was performed according to EC Guideline method A14.

An assessment of the chemical structure did not indicate any functional groups associated with explosive properties, and so it was established that ETD would not have explosive properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

ETD was concluded not to possess explosive properties on the basis of an assessment of the chemical structure. On this basis, classification as "explosive" is not applicable under either the CLP Regulation (Regulation (EC) 1272/2008), or the Dangerous Substances Directive (67/548/EEC).
