Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

T-Properties:

The substance is not classified as hazardous, thus is not "T". Although long-term studies are being or will be performed (Algae and Fish), it is not expected that the results of these studies have an effect on the conclusion on T-properties of the substance, due to the physical chemical properties of the substance. No effect of the substance on the fish and algae is expected, due to the low water solubility of the substance.

B-Properties:

While the log Kow value is above the screening criteria for B, the traditional relationship between log Kow and bioaccumulation break down at log Kow values >8. According to ECHA R.11 guidance, a log Kow higher than 10 likely has a bioconcentration factor lower than 2000 L/kg. Two separate models show that Liquid AKD has a log Kow >12. Accordingly, the substance is not "B".

P-Properties:

Based on the evaluation of the current available study with the substance and the comparison of the substance with the read-across substance, it's expected that the substance will be assessed to be readily biodegradable in a new additional ready biodegradation study. Since there is a substantial biodegradation of 45% in 28 days in the current biodegradation study and the data of source substance, it is concluded that the substance is not P and not vP.

As a result, the substance is neither PBT nor vPvB.
