Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General advice: Consult a physician.

If inhaled: if breathed in, move person into fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a physician.

In case of skin contact: wash off with soap and plenty of water. Consult a physician.

In case of eye contact: rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.

If swallowed: do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. Consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media

For small (incipient) fires, use media such as "alcohol" foam, dry chemical, or carbon dioxide. For large fires, apply water from as far as possible. Use very large quantities (flooding) of water applied as a mist or spray; solid streams of water may be neffective. Cool all affected containers with flooding quantities of water.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Carbon oxides

Advice for firefighters

Wear self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary.

Further information

Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas. Ensure adequate ventilation. Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low areas.

Environmental precautions

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Contain spillage, and then collect with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and place in container for disposal according to local regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist.

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Somehow moisture sensitive.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1- Appropriate engineering controls:

Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be used. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions. If applicable, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If exposure limits have not been established, maintain airborne levels to an acceptable level.

2- Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment:

+ General information: Personal protection equipment should be chosen according to the CEN standards and in discussion with the supplier of the personal protective equipment.

+ Eye/face protection: If contact is likely, safety glasses with side shields are recommended.

+ Skin protection:

      - Hand protection For prolonged or repeated skin contact use suitable protective gloves.

      - Other Wear suitable protective clothing.

+ Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

+ Thermal hazards: Wear appropriate thermal protective clothing, when necessary.

3- Hygiene measures:

Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as washing after handling the material and before eating, drinking, and/or smoking. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.

4- Environmental exposure controls:

Environmental manager must be informed of all major releases.

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity: The product is stable and non-reactive under normal conditions of use, storage and transport.

2. Chemical stability: Material is stable under normal conditions.

3. Possibility of hazardous reactions: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

4. Conditions to avoid: Contact with incompatible materials.

5. Incompatible materials: Strong oxidising agents.

6. Hazardous decomposition products: No hazardous decomposition products are known.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:

- Residual waste:  Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Empty containers or liners may retain some product residues. This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe manner.

- Contaminated packaging: Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal. Since emptied containers may retain product residue, follow label warnings even after container is emptied.

- EU waste code: The Waste code should be assigned in discussion between the user, the producer and the waste disposal company.

- Disposal methods/information: Collect and reclaim or dispose in sealed containers at licensed waste disposal site.

- Special precautions: Dispose in accordance with all applicable regulations.
