For the assessment of the aquatic toxicity of Hexamethylene diisocyanate, trimers, reaction products with 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (CAS 162492-01-5), experimental studies are available, which cover the short-term toxicity to all three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae) and the long-term toxicity to one trophic level (aquatic algae). All studies were performed according to the internationally accepted OECD guidelines and GLP. Neither acute (fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae) nor chronic toxicity (algae) was recorded up to the limit of water solubility. Moreover, the toxicity control of a standard ready biodegradability test indicates no toxic effects on activated sludge microorganisms.
