Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Exposure by inhalation: Remove from exposure area to fresh air immediately. Perform artificial respiration if necessary. Keep person warm and at rest. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get medical attention immediately.

Exposure by skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash with soap or mild detergent and large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains (at least 15 to 20 minutes). Get medical attention immediately.

Exposure by eye contact: Was eyes immediately with large amounts of water or normal saline, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of chemical remains (at least 15 to 20 minutes). Get medical attention immediately.

Exposure by ingestion: If vomitting occurs, keep head lower than hips to prevent aspiration. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Fire extinguishing agents: Water spray, foam, dry chemical or carbion dioxide.

Restictions: No restrictions

Fire/explosion hazard: None

Main combustion gas: Carbon and aluminium oxides

Personal protection: Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity. Wear eye protection.

Environmental precautions: Do not allow release into the aquatic environment.

Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (e.g. sand or soil). Transfer spillage to waste containers labelled in the same way as the original containers. clean the spillage area with water and detergent.

Handling and storage

Occupational hygiene: Avoid ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene practice and any legal requirements.

Storage facilities: Store in a cool, dry area with adequate ventilation
Segregation: No special precautions
Storage conditions: Keep containers closed, away from heat, steam pipe and sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance should be stored, handled, transported and used under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with local regulations in order to minimise exposure.

Where exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled, appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn e.g. dust mask conforming to standard EN149 FFP1, goggles, chemical resistant gloves to standard EN374 and protective clothing e.g. an impervious apron.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None known.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.

Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not present a significant explosion hazard as it is used in a mainly closed environement. However, like most organic compounds it is combustible and may form a dust explosion if widely dispersed in air.

Disposal considerations

Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically or technically feasible, and as such, waste material should be disposed of by appropriate methods and according to local regulations.
Waste disposal from use: Follow local and national regulations for disposal by incineration.
Contaminated items containing the substance can be recycled or disposed of by incineration by burning under controlled conditions at a lincenced waste treatment processor in accordance with any local regulations.
Do not release into the environment.
