Description of key information

The experimental value of the melting point as determined by the capillary method for 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one was found to be 116°C at atmospheric pressure of 966 hPa. This value of melting point when converted at 101 325 Pa found to be equivalent to 121.67 °C. No decomposition and no sublimation of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one was observed at the melting point temperature

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
121.67 °C

Additional information

The experimental value of the melting point as determined by the capillary method for 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one was found to be 116°C at atmospheric pressure of 966 hPa. This value of melting point when converted at 101 325 Pa found to be equivalent to 121.67 °C. No decomposition and no sublimation of 1-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyl)ethan-1-one was observed at the melting point temperature. Supporting Studies shows value different from Key study which could be due to difference in the estimation conditions. However for the purpose of chemical safety assessment key study value 121.67 deg C shall be considered.
