Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Specific details on test material used for the study:
Purity: 95.6 % [w/w]

Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
Dispersion treatment: 10 min. ultrasonic treatment at room temperature
Stock solution: 100 mg/L, directly weighing for test concentrations 100 - 10000 mg/L

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage
Details on inoculum:
Non adapted activated sludge.
Source: Municipal sewage treatment plant, D-31137 Hildesheim
The sludge was washed twice with autoclaved tap water and diluted 1:3.
Nutrient solution: Synthetic waste water according to OECD 209
Dry sludge concentration: 3.2 g/L

Study design

Test type:
static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
3 h

Test conditions

Test temperature:
18 - 22°C
Nominal and measured concentrations:
Nominal: 0.1, 1.0, 10, 100, 1000 and 10000 mg/L
Details on test conditions:
Deviations to the test guideleine:
- In contrats to the guideline, it was decided to use copper(II)sulphate pentahydrate instead of the prescribed 3,5-dichlorophenol.
- In contrast to the guideline the activated sludge was washed only twice, and not three times as described in the guideline.
- A dry sludge concentration of 3 g/L +/- 20% instead of 4 g/L +/- 10% was regarded sufficient for the activated sludge of Hildesheim.
Reference substance (positive control):
yes
Remarks:
Copper(II)sulphate pentahydrate
