Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

1,6-Hexanediol dimethacrylate is classified as readily biodegradable according to OECD 301 F (manometric respiratory test). The 10-day criterion for ready biodegradability was met. (Evonik Röhm GmbH, 1998)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

In a valid guideline study according to OECD 301 F (manometric respiration test) 1,6 -Hexanedioldimethacrylate was exposed to microorganisms derived from activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant under aerobic static conditions. The biodegradability of 1,6 -Hexanedioldimethacrylate was determined to be 91.1 % after 28 days based on O2 consumption as compared to the theoretical O2 demand (ThOD). Since 1,6 -Hexanedioldimethacrylate reached 82.3 % of degradation at the end of the 10-d window it reached the pass level of 60 % for ready biodegradability and is therefore classified as readily biodegradable in the Manometric Respiration Test.
