Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the test substance to the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna was assessed according to OECD Test Guideline 202.  The effective loading rate was assessed at 48-Hours.  The EL50 was 0.15 mg/L loading rate WAF with 95% confidence limits of 0.14-0.18 mg/L loading rate WAF. The No Observed Effect Loading rate at 48 hours was 0.090 mg/L loading rate WAF.

Additional information

A modification of the standard method for the preparation of aqueous media was performed in view of the difficulties associated with the evaluation of aquatic toxicity of poorly soluble test materials. The organisms were exposed to a Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) of the test material, which is an approach endorsed by Regulatory Authorities in the EU and elsewhere when the test material is a complex mixture and poorly soluble in water and the auxiliary solvents and surfactants. Exposure is expressed in terms of the original concentration of test material in water at the start of the mixing period (loading rate) irrespective of the actual concentration of test material in the WAF.

Samples of the control, and two loading rate WAFs, were taken for Total Organic Carbon analysis at 0 and 28-hours. Given the background level of carbon in the control vessels and the low level of carbon in the test vessels, it was considered that all the results were less than or around the limit of quantitation of the analytical method and hence did not provide definitive evidence of stability of the test preparations.

Information on the test substance indicated that the test material was a mixture of components. Therefore, given that toxicity cannot be attributed to a single component or a mixture of components but to the test material as a whole, the results were based on nominal loading rates.

The No Observed Effect Loading rate at 48 hours was 0.09 mg/L, based on zero immobilisation at this loading rate.

The EL50 was 0.15 mg/L loading rate WAF with 95% confidence limits of 0.14-0.18 mg/L loading rate WAF. The No Observed Effect Loading rate at 48 hours was 0.090 mg/L loading rate WAF.
