Description of key information
Isobutyl-R-lactate showed respiration inhibition in one of the three replicates at the highest tested concentration of 1000 mg/L - thus yielding an EC50 value of > 1000 mg/L and a NOEC of ≥ 714.7 mg/L.

To investigate potential harmful effects of isobutyl-R-lactate on microorganisms, an activated sludge respiration inhibition test was performed according to OECD 209 and under GLP. In one of the three replicates at the highest concentration, a respiration inhibition of 33 % could be observed. The two other replicates showed no respiration inhibition. Hence an EC50 value of > 1000 mg/L and a NOEC of ≥ 714.7 mg/L was determined.
