TEST SYSTEM VALIDATION
Three negative control replicates were performed. The biomass in the negative control cultures should increase exponentially within the 48-hour test period with a specific growth rate of at least 0.92 day-1.
The mean coefficient of variation for section-by-section specific growth rates (days 0-1 and 1-2 for 48-hour tests) in the negative control cultures must not exceed 35 %. This criterion applies to the mean value of coefficients of variation
calculated for replicate control cultures.
The coefficient of variation of average specific growth rates during the whole test period in replicate negative control cultures must not exceed 7 % in tests with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Selenastrum capricornutum).

GROWTH MEDIUM
